Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday announced an ambitious Rs1,113 billion package for the development of the country’s financial capital and set up a coordination and implementation committee led by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to bring all “stakeholders and authorities” together to make key decisions, remove hurdles and ensure their implementation.

A committee has been formed to have check on the package and it would make sure implementation of the package. The committee comprises of stakeholders from the PTI and PPP, members from the security agencies and members from the NDMA while the committee will be chaired by the Chief minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.

PPP that was very much clear about Karachi, that they would not allow anyone to take over Karachi and this their mandate but unexpectedly they agreed upon to formulae a committee, what was the reason? It has been learnt that keeping in view the situation of Karachi, PM Imran Khan had decided to invoke Governor rule in Karachi but a very powerful personality asked him to hold one because Governor rule will not send a good message to the world and it would be harmful for democracy.

The personality met with Asif Ali Zardari and appraised him of consequences if they do not agree with PM Khan on Karachi’s transformation plan and formulation of committee, at the same day CM Sindh was called by PPP’s Co-Chairman and the very next day Murad Ali Shah held a meeting with PM Imran Khan. This is the very reason that despite sharing a major chunk of 750 billion from 1.1 trillion package PPP agreed upon formulation of committee under the supervision funds will be spent.

In the backdoor deal, Peoples party requested that it will not be dethroned from the Karachi and CM will be the In-charge of the committee, however being an opposition party in the center it will sit with opposition but will not make any attempt to derail the PTI government. It was also decided that Peoples party not play politics on FATF and will support Government’s legislation on the bill. Thus on the basis of this agreement Karachi Transformation plan has been decided.
