Co-chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Asif Ali Zardari, has stepped up his efforts for a multi-party alliance ahead of Senate elections, Samaa reported Sunday.
According to reports, the PPP leader has so far contacted JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and PPP-Sherpao leader Aftab Ahmed Sherpao.
Sources say the political forces have agreed on a joint strategy to forge an alliance in Senate ahead of elections of the Parliament’s upper house.
The three party heads, source said, have discussed possibilities of cooperation in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.
Zardari has also offered olive branch to Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM).
In a telephonic conversation overnight, Zardari and MQM chief Altaf Hussain again agreed to mend fences and work with each other.
