The Judicial Commission‘s report has not damaged the political career of Mr Khan. Instead, it has attracted significant criticism for not probing the rigging allegations to the hilt. Of course, there was more than what meets the eye.
In truth, every politician in parliament and many outside it know precisely what the problem with the electoral system is because they have either suffered from or exploited every loophole in the system.
While taking a detached view of the events that followed the 2013 elections, Mr Khan emerged as a greater politician than he was ever before. At least he has proved beyond doubt that he is the only potential challenger to the status quo. When the Judicial Commission said that the electoral task performed by the Election Commission of Pakistan left much to be desired, it proved the point that the results of elections 2013 were not the true reflection of the will of the people.
In short, the question mark does not hang over the leadership ability of Mr Khan, but it looms large on the credibility of the entire electoral process.
