A statement issued by Mansehra district administration on Tuesday said that in view of the worsening coronavirus situation in the country, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) cannot be allowed to hold a rally.

PML-N was to hold a rally in Mansehra on Wednesday, in which Maryam Nawaz and other leaders were scheduled to address the crowd. But, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government announced a ban on rallies yesterday due to the threat of coronavirus.

The government said that the virus’ second wave is more dangerous than the first and demands care and safety.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Information Adviser Kamran Bangash said that the second wave of coronavirus has started. The fatality ratio in the first week of October was two, which has now risen to 25.

He said that as per the decision taken at the NCC meeting, the KP government has postponed its November 21 rally and the opposition is also requested to show responsibility and follow suit.

Reacting to the government’s decision, PDM spokesman Mian Iftikhar Hussain had said that their anti-government movement would not be stopped in the name of coronavirus. Opposition rallies will continue and any dialogue will only be held from the platform of PDM.
