PM Imran hopeful for normal ties between Pak, India with proper leadership in Delhi

Shafaqna Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan In his address to the World Economic Forum s (WEF) Country Strategy Dialogue (CSD) on Pakistan said that he hopes that with proper leadership in India, relations between the two courtiers will return to normal.

Prime Minister Imran Khan while talking about the affects of COVID-19 on the world said that among the countries hit by COVID-19, Pakistan is fortunate, after attaining stability, we are now moving in the right direction, he added.

Speaking about the smart lockdown, he said that along with the lockdown, Pakistan also protected the daily wage earners.

The prime minister said that when his government came into power, for a year and a half, they brought down the deficits and introduced policies to boost the economy.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the country s current account recorded a surplus after 17 years. The CSD on Pakistan is in recognition of the country’s positive economic trajectory and its commendable resilience to the immense challenges.

Imran Khan said that in the past, keeping the rupee artificially stable had affected exports. Now the situation is that the textile industry in Pakistan is running at its full potential.

The prime minister also informed the forum about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and said that the country needed skilled labour for the project.

He said that CPEC plans to promote ties between the countries. The second phase of the CPEC is focusing on the establishment of economic zones. Through CPEC, Pakistan would have access to China s major market. Railways are also being upgraded under this project, he added.

In his address, the Prime Minister praised US President Donald Trump and said that he had taken good steps in Afghanistan. With Pakistan s help, the United States and the Taliban came to the negotiating table. We hope that Biden will not back down from the achievements in Afghanistan.
