After arriving in Karachi on Monday evening, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman hoped that the terms for Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) return to assemblies can be reached in the first round of meetings, Express News reported. “I have come to Karachi with much hope. If there were no hope, I would not have come,” he said. The JUI-F chief further said that the negotiations will be held without any pre-conditions. While he hoped to wrap up negotiations in the first meeting where the issues will be presented, Rehman said that should there be a need for it, talks could extend to a second round.
It is worth mentioning here that MQM has a record of breaking up with governments and then reconciling. On this occasion Moulana Fazlur Rehman is certainly not on an impossible mission.
