Punjab election commission’s tribunal today ordered re-polling in National Assembly constituency, NA-122, declaring the election in the constituency null and void – accepting Imran Khan’s petition challenging the 2013 result on grounds of rigging. Sadiq had defeated PTI chief in the NA-122 constituency after which a complaint was filed in the Election Commission, alleging massive rigging in favour of Sadiq. Commenting on this situation, PTI leader Naeemul Haque said they will hold the province’s administration and police responsible in case of any untoward incident outside the tribunal’s building. Throughout the day the temperature outside the tribunal remained high as PTI and PML-N workers chanted slogans in favour of their respective leaders.Earlier in the day the two charged up sides came close to clashing but the situation was kept under control by a large contingent of police commandos and policewomen deployed on site.
In order to keep the situation under control further police reinforcements were called on site including water cannon to disperse supporters in case they turned violent.
