The recent large-scale child abuse is unprecedented in the history of the country. The Lahore saga of 1999 of the serial killer Javed Iqbal was another horrific episode of this large-scale brutality and human degradation. However, according to reports, the Kasur incident involved an entire village. In the media coverage some gross violations of investigative processes and standard operating procedures occurred. TV cameras were going to the actual place where these crimes were committed, and TV man touching and holding evidence like used syringes, empty bullet shells and other left over stuff. In a normal investigative practice and for forensic evidence collection purposes, investigative authorities immediately seal the crime scene. This location should also have been sealed and declared out of bounds to the public. Instead, the TV channel crews and public were trespassing on the property and destroying valuable evidence which could have been used to answer several questions pertaining to this case. Policing agencies and the law enforcement apparatus should streamline their practices on modern lines.
