Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani was briefed on the proposed development projects and steps taken so far regarding legislation about the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), sources said on Saturday.

The religious affairs secretary informed a meeting presided over by the chief minister on Friday that four acts had been implemented last year while madressahs were being registered with the federal ministry of education and vocational training.

He said a plan had been prepared to build a directorate and district Zakat offices and approval had been given for establishment of a Quran academy.

Similarly, for proper management and administration of trusts operating in the province, the Balochistan Trust Act, 2020, had been implemented and under this act money laundering through these trusts would be prevented.

The meeting was also informed about a proposed project for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Islamic university.

The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to take effective measures for the promotion of Islamic teachings. Resources would be provided for the purpose.

Stressing the need to chalk out development projects of an inclusive nature, Mr Alyani said that schemes should be designed in a way that a maximum number of people benefit from them. He directed that steps should be taken to establish mosques by the government across the province.

The principal secretary to the chief minister, finance secretary, law secretary, director general of public relations department and other officials attended the meeting.
