SHAFAQNA PAKISTAN (Shia News Agency)
Pakistan one of the most strategically important country remains in lime light for all the wrong reasons especially when it comes to terrorism it is considered as most notorious country. Since long Pakistan has been accused for state sponsored terrorism in Indian Held Kashmir and neighboring country Afghanistan, but now it seems that its policies have lashed back. It has not only destroyed its economy but largely world’s support. Recent visit of US president Barack Obama shows that now West is banking on India because of two reasons. First because of giant trade volume, growing economy and emerging market in South Asia and second a country of strategic importance not only for US but also for Russia. At a time when Pakistan’s arched rival has become occupied a central place for world’s powers, Pakistan is fighting for its survival. US support to India is a clear message for Pakistan.
On the other hand Pakistan heavily banks upon its all weather friend China and during Obama’s visit to India, Pakistan’s Chief of Army staff left for China to seek help against US-India alliance. But it seems that Pakistan’s charm to China has totally fizzled out and Russia and China has decided to back the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) — a resolution supported by India and heavily biased against Pakistan. The CCIT was proposed by India in 1996 in lieu of Pakistan allegedly backing Kashmiri separatists. China’s move shows that it trying to placate India because of its emerging economy and also an attempt to detach India from US block, while Russia an old fellow of India is also in attempt to diminish US-Indian emerging partnership.
At this situation when Pakistan has almost lost its all weather friend, Iran is the most suitable option for Pakistan to avert international isolation. Iran could not only help out Pakistan from energy crisis but also it can support its efforts against terrorism. Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan could be more suitable block for Pakistan to keep India low in South Asia. The strategic alliance between these three countries can not only help out them to improve their economies but also a strong defense cooperation between both the countries can help out Pakistan to maintain its deterrence against Indian hegemonic designs in the region. But for this purpose Pakistan will have to balance the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran. This is the only plausible solution for Pakistan at this eve of history.
