Growth of nation states and its welfare demands increases day to day. Fewer governments around the world are able to provide basic amenities to its citizens. Every government exaggerates its policies as if it has been a favor that they are working for the social and economic uplift of its masses. The ruling elite and sitting mandarins boast of its manifesto in such a way as if they are actually throwing the cannons of justice. It reckons itself as a source of eudemonia.
The government always remain cocksure in ameliorating the living of its citizens. The government remains certain in its working for obliteration and efface of social junks and perils. They always seems in permanent euphoria of serving the masses and remain tautological and platonic. Indeed men at the helm are supremely ostentatious in this respect. Ruling clique behaves like infallible beings and nobles and accuses the prior governments for their contemporary apathy.
The impoverished and the pauperized citizens take notes of the corridors of power. They seek for their own relief and respite. They are yearning for opportunities to pull themselves out of poverty and miseries. Despite of their perpetual disgruntlement people remain optimistic for silver lining in the darkest hour. They believe that one day their sorrows and miseries will end. And the life would start pacing in a new direction. They attach greater expectations with government.
No matter how much illusive impractical and irrational men in power are. These downtrodden people still do not display their rancor for government. The citizens affirm the yoke and chauvinism of the state and government. The reason does not lie in their jingoism and public spirit but indeed lies in their extreme and utter alienation. Their agonies and destitution too keeps them preoccupied with their anxiety of subsistence. No other titan of eudemonia seems to them available. Socio-physical and socio-psychological forces make them to believe that only government can and will wangle their existing exasperation. And these ruling cliques will rescue their lives and their socio-economic position.
Well, our government is cognizant of what a citizen expects from a state. The point to ponder is that what really the state has been doing in promoting the welfare of its citizens? Well, the answer to this question does not seem to be the bone of contention. In a country, where there is sixty percent of populations in chains and clutches of penury, we don;t think at all that state is rendering its duty. If the present scenario perpetuated then combating this menace would indeed be insurmountable.
The leaders in power here have been so indolent, fainant and impuissant that expecting amelioration from them is absurdity and lunacy. Factually, leaders have marked the zenith of malingering. Governments in Pakistan have always shown its insouciance to the problems of the masses. It could not enable the citizens to find their living. The question is why Pakistan could not compete with its other coevals? Why Pakistan could not be the Asian Tiger? We have the most hardworking and shrewd men in this country. We only need to capitalize our human resources. Our people potential, credentials and dexterity needs to be maneuvered only. Primacy should be attached to the human resource development. Abstaining and refraining from human resource development has always been the greatest flaw of all the governments of Pakistan.
Law and order is exasperating in this country. Militancy and insurgency is raging across the country. The metropolitan city like Karachi is stormed with crisis one after the other. Hundreds of people have died and died of what? Dehydration, intense heat and unbearable electricity load shedding. Due to short fall of electricity people could not overcome the brutality of nature. The point to ponder is what men in power did for pauperized and poor residents of Karachi. Still the coterie of men with vested interest bamboozles the laymen in the houses. So what’s the outcome? The answer is clear and simple that is nothing. No respite and relief has yet been made possible. These precious lives could be saved through the proper wangling of the authorities. True that governments cannot be blamed for the soaring temperature, but it certainly could have done more.
The point that pangs me is that Pakistan is not the only country which is in the grip of nature. There are large number of countries which stands up to the extreme weather conditions. Why there, the ramifications of such conditions are not as like Pakistan? Why not there people die due to dehydration and high temperature? Why there people are not in the pits and the infernos? The wreak lies in the committed leadership, which aims to contravene the problems of the people.
Men come in power through the vote of impoverished and pauperized class while it shields the interest of the elite. It’s been 67 years of Pakistan to be on track of development. But no government could do well for the people. Still Pakistan is a bum and beggar state. According to the economic survey of 2013-2014, if the poverty line is $2 per day in line with international standards for middle-income countries, then 60.19 percent of the population fall below poverty line in Pakistan. This survey is indeed an agonizing and a bitter one. The more the governments abstain from seeking ways of rapid relief, the higher would be the pace of augmentation in this number. The penuriousness repercussions would certainly be the worst one. It is taking the country to nowhere but to infernos. It would be fair to say that a state withers away when it does not pay heed to its citizens.
We are optimistic about the current government endeavors. The government which was established in 2013 doesn’t seem vacillating. The strenuous efforts no doubt deserves to be eulogized. Relegating this gospel truth would be delinquency. This time the government is scrupulous in its duty. It is following a sane course but a long one. The days of repose, ease and relief have a long way to come. The government focal point is infrastructure. Human resource development is kept as secondary. Despite of some odds the government is working better. The citizens ought to trust once again the new government.
