Pakistan, India armies hold flag meeting at Poonch Rawalkot

Shafaqna Pakistan: Pakistan and India armies on Friday held a Brigade Commander Level flag meeting at Poonch Rawalkot crossing point to discuss the implementation mechanism of the 2003 ceasefire agreement across the Line of Control (LoC).

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a brigade commander-level flag meeting was held between Pakistan and Indian armies at Poonch-Rawalakot crossing point to discuss implementation mechanism as per the understanding.

The meeting comes after the recent DGMOs ceasefire Understanding in 2021 under which India and Pakistan armies agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the LoC and all other sectors with effect from February 25.

The DGMOs of both the countries had contacted at hotline and reviewed situation along the LoC and all other sectors.

The discussion was held in a free, frank and cordial atmosphere. Pakistan and Indian authorities have also expressed their will to address each other’s core issues and concerns for mutually beneficial and sustainable peace.

It was reiterated by Pakistan and India that existing mechanisms of hotline contact and border flag meetings will be utilized to resolve any unforeseen situation or misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, exclusively talking to Dunya News, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar told that another understanding had been carried out in the 2003 agreement for LoC ceasefire.

While sharing the statistics, the DG said that over 13,500 violations had been occurred since 2003 whereas 2019 had witnessed most number of the violations.

310 innocent citizens had embraced martyrdom while approximately 1600 have sustained injuries in the ceasefire violations, he went on to say.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan, in 2021, the Indian forces had attempted 175 ceasefire violations so far, resulting in serious injuries to eight innocent civilians.
