The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has decided to provide a subsidy of Rs20.8 billion on wheat to ensure the supply of flour to the people at rates lower than the market’s during the holy month of Ramazan.
The cabinet, which met here on Monday with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair, also approved the outsourcing of the regional blood transfusion centres to ensure safe transfusion, said an official statement.
The outsourcing of centres will be implemented by the Healthcare Foundation and the banks will be run under the public private partnership law to improve its operations and resolve the problems of blood required by the patients.
The chief minister directed the health department to include liver transplant, bone marrow treatment and blood transfusion in the Sehat Card Plus programme to ensure free treatment of patients.

The cabinet also approved the procedure for providing 1,320 residential flats on 150 kanals of land to the poor under the Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.
The price of a flat has been fixed at Rs2.2 million.
The beneficiaries will be those, whose monthly income doesn’t exceed Rs40,000 and are permanent residents of the province.
The flats whose size will be 780 square feet are to be given away to the deserving people through a draw.
The cabinet also approved compensation of Rs1 million each for the families of seven people, who were ‘martyred’ in Hazara division during the ANP-PPP government.
It approved the establishment of the Jawan Markaz at the district level in the province, which will provide IT training, indoor sport facilities and create employment opportunities for youth.
The first project of Jawan Markaz in Mardan district is ready, while in the second phase, the Peshawar Jawan Markaz will also be established.
Under the Ehsass and Poverty Alleviation Programme, four vehicles have been provided to Baitul Mal. The programme will be launched on April 11.
The cabinet approved the establishment of the Skill Development Company.
Maleeha Bangash, Iqbal Wazir, Affan Aziz and Shafiq will be private members of its board of directors.
The cabinet also approved necessary amendments to the MTI Appellate Tribunal Rules.
It decided to establish primary care and management committees in hospitals, rural health centres and BHUs to improve health facilities and monitor them effectively.
The cabinet approved the reconstitution of the board of directors of the KP-EZDMC.
The statement said Chief Minister Mahmood Khan would soon announce the Ramazan Package.
Mr Mahmood directed the cabinet members to visit bazaars in their respective districts during the month of fasting to check hoarding and profiteering.
He also asked them to prepare e-transfer policy within a week to ensure quick disposal as well as transparency in postings and transfers.
The chief minister directed ministers to convene a monthly review meeting of their departments to ensure early completion of the development projects initiated for the welfare of the people.
He issued orders for the availability of first aid in remote areas by making the inactive civil dispensaries functional and ensure the availability of the required staff there.
