Shafaqna Pakistan: Former Inspector of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has passed away due to the COVID-19.
Nasir Durrani had been suffering from respiratory problems after contracting COVID-19.
He had been on the ventilator at Mayo Hospital in Lahore for the last one month where he breathed his last.
Nasir Khan Durrani was a retired Pakistani police officer belonging to the 10th CTP who served in BPS-22 grade. Durrani was highly regarded as an honest police officer in the country. In September 2013, he was appointed as the Provincial Police Office (Inspector General of Police) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thus making him top cop of the province, where he served till March 2017.
As Inspector General of Police, Durrani oversaw all patrol and speciality units, and managed department policy that affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s many diverse communities.
Durrani’s tenure as chief of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police earned him fame and good repute since his policies were admired by the public.
PM expresses grief
Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his condolence over the death of former inspector general of police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani.
On his twitter handle, the prime minister lauded services of the former police chief for bringing reforms in the KP police.
He also prayed for the departed soul and expressed condolence with the bereaved family.
The prime minister posted, “Saddened to learn of the passing of former IG Police Nasir Durrani. My condolences and prayers go to his family. He was instrumental in reforming KP police when he was the IG. Pakistan has lost an outstanding police officer.”
Nasir Durrani had been on ventilator for quite some time after contracting Covid 19. During 2013, he was appointed as IGP KP and served the province till 2017.
