Saudi Arabia to release over 1100 Pakistani prisoners: Sheikh Rashid

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said that 1100 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabian jails will soon be released and brought back to their country as per the agreement signed during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit.

In an interview to Saudi Arabian newspaper, the minister told that Pakistanis imprisoned for serious crimes will be dealt separately.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan had returned home in the wee hours of Monday after completing three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan held delegation level talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and singed multiple agreements and MoUs to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders, at their meeting, reviewed all facets of bilateral cooperation and discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen and enhance economic and trade relations by exploring areas of investment and opportunities available in light of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision and Pakistan’s development priorities emanating from a shift from geo-politics to geo-economics.

The discussions also focused on increasing cooperation in other fields, including energy, science, technology, agriculture and culture.

Moreover, the premier also performed Umrah, paid respect at Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) in Madina Munawara and offered Navafil in Masjid-e- Nabvi (PBUH).
