Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Thursday that reports of putting Shahbaz Sharif’s name on Exit Contol List ( ECL) on Eid day were not correct.
In a tweet, he said no such notification has been issued yet.
However, the Cabinet Committee has recommended that Shahbaz Sharif’s name should be included in the ECL and it will be implemented as per normal procedure, the minister remarked.
Shehbaz s name placed on ECL after federal cabinet s approval
Earlier it was reported that the name of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif has been put on Exit Control List (ECL) after the federal cabinet approved it through a circulation summary.
According to details, Shehbaz Sharif cannot travel abroad after his name has been placed on the ECL.
Earlier the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore in a letter to NAB Headquarters on Aril 28, 2021 had recommended placing the name of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on the Exit Control List (ECL), including co-accused in money laundering case.
A special meeting of cabinet sub-committee was held on Wednesday, all members of committee unanimously recommended putting Shehbaz Sharif s name on the ECL. The final decision was to be made by the federal cabinet.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, along with Prime Minister s Advisor on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid had said that Shehbaz Sharif was not on the blacklist adding that no accused could be treated in a special way.
The interior minister had said that there are three lists to prevent someone from travelling abroad, one is the black list, into which someone s name is included by the Passport Office.
He had said that the second is PNIL, into which someone s name is added by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the third is the Exit Control List (ECL) into which the federal cabinet has the authority to put someone s name.
He had said that Shehbaz Sharif can request to appear before the committee within 15 days. The committee is bound to decide on Shehbaz Sharif s request within 90 days.
The minister had said that a summary in this regard has also been forwarded to cabinet.
Shehbaz Sharif on Imran Khan s nerves even during Eid holidays: Maryam Aurangzeb
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb said that Shehbaz Sharif is on Imran Khan’s nerves even during Eid holidays.
In a statement, Maryam Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan does not care about the people and their unemployment, on the day of Eid, the office was opened to put Shehbaz Sharif on ECL.
She said that court had allowed Shehbaz Sharif to travel abroad and Imran Sahib is committing contempt of court by deliberately stopping Shehbaz Sharif.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that deliberate refusal to obey the court order is not only contempt of court but also an attack on the judiciary.
The PML-N spokesperson said that Shehbaz Sharif was celebrating Eid with great joy with the people, his children and family members. One can only pray after your hate, discrimination and fear, she added.
Maryam Aurangzeb said that friendly countries are not giving investment, they are giving zakat and charity, what is the fault of Shehbaz Sharif in this, she asked.
She said that Imran Sahib did not instruct to reduce the price of flour, sugar and medicine on Eid but ordered to put Shehbaz Sharif’s name on ECL.
She said that the cabinet did not direct to put the names of those who stole 450 billion in sugar, 250 billion in flour on the ECL including those who stole 122 billion in LNG.
