Shafaqna Pakistan: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the Afghan government needs to reconsider its decision to recall its ambassador and diplomats from Pakistan, especially when the Afghan peace talks are underway in Doha.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with National Security Adviser (NSA) Moeed Yusuf and IG Islamabad Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman, Foreign Minister said that the Prime Minister personally took notice of the incident and our government wants to bring the facts before the world adding we will not hide anything about this important issue.

He said that when the Afghan ambassador was recalled, he immediately contacted his Afghan counterpart and briefed him on the situation and assured him that the demands of justice would be met. He said Mohammad Haneef Atmar has assured cooperation for furthering the investigation.

He said that the Foreign Secretary had assured him and his daughter of cooperation in his meeting with the Afghan Ambassador, adding that we have further enhanced the security of the Afghan Embassy.

National Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yusuf said that Pakistan was a target of hybrid warfare and an entire network of information warfare was used against the country.

Yusuf recalled that the EU DisinfoLab had exposed an India-based network of fake websites and media outlets doing propaganda against Pakistan.

He said fake accounts and bots were being used to create a narrative against Pakistan, including regarding the incident involving the Afghan envoy s daughter.

Sharing slides on data gathered by the government, he said hashtags were being trended on a daily basis to create false impressions including that Pakistan is doing something wrong in Afghanistan and that the security situation in Pakistan was poor.

“This is part of an orchestrated campaign of which various fronts have been opened against Pakistan,” he said, adding that the same accounts that did fake propaganda regarding Balochistan and Kashmir were also doing propaganda ever since the alleged abduction incident took place.

On the occasion, IG Islamabad said that inquiry committees have been formed to investigate the incident and concrete steps are being taken.

The IG Islamabad said that more than 220 people have been questioned so far to investigate the incident while five inquiry teams have been formed to probe the matter.
