The central general secretary of JUI-F and former deputy chairman Senate Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has sought a clarification from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif regarding his recent remarks about the formation of a national government.
Talking to journalists here on Thursday, Mr Haideri said the PML-N leader should explain whether “neither resistance nor reconciliation beyond comprehension” is his personal opinion or the narrative of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) as opposition parties are not comfortable with such statements.
Responding to a question about the geo-political situation in the region, he urged the government to come up with a policy statement and develop a national consensus to deal with the possible consequences of the fast changing scenario in Afghanistan and its possible impact on Pakistan.
He said the country has undergone major changes in recent times and has an opportunity to establish good relations but rulers are only making statements in the absence of a proper strategy. In the current situation, no country should interfere in the formation of the Afghan government and leave them to make their own decisions, he said, adding: “Yes, if the Taliban go along with all the stakeholders, it will be of great benefit to them in the future.
The Afghan nation and the Taliban have fought the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) forces for 20 years and defeated three world powers in a row: British imperialism, superpower Russia, and now the United States and Nato.
He said the election commission should take notice of the massive electioneering drive for the upcoming cantonment board election by the minister, member national and provincial assembly belonging to Taxila and Wah and announcement of development funds in violation of the code of conduct.
Responding to a question, he said three years of the PTI’s governance was a failure on all fronts as the party brought a storm of inflation and could not meet the promise of transparent accountability. He added that people’s hopes from the PTI government had already died and Prime Minister Imran Khan should think about his policies before it’s too late.
“The three-year rule of the present government actually became three centuries for the poor section of the society as their lives were snatched away by unbearable inflation. All they got is high prices, corruption and hopelessness. Everyone, from labourers to hawkers, and even industrialists, suffered under the PTI rule,” he added.
