Journalists stage protest against PMDA bill

Journalists on Monday held protest and staged a sit-in for the second day against proposed bill of Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA).

Protesting against restrictions on media and proposed new regulatory authority, journalists staged a sit-in outside parliament house. Media persons will also stage a walkout during address of President to joint session of Parliament.

A Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) delegation also met with the protestors and expressed solidarity with them. Senator Sherry Rehman, while addressing the protest, said that government is trying to bring back black laws.

On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb termed the prosed bill of PMDA a black law and vowed that PML-N with the help of media persons will not let government pass the bill.
