After a 10-month long marriage, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and his wife Reham Khan have decided to part ways. The PTI chief confirmed his and Reham’s decision to file for divorce via twitter on Friday. ”This is a painful time for me and Reham and our families. I would request everyone to respect our privacy.” Six months in, rumours that the marriage was falling apart began to circulate. While the couple was seen together on occasion, Imran last month tweeted an apparent refutation of the rumours: “I am shocked at a TV channel making slanderous statement about my marriage. I strongly urge the media to desist from such baseless statements.” Even before the denials by Imran Khan that his marriage was falling apart, the once Pakistan captain was seen rejecting reports published in a British newspaper alleging that ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith was trying to break up his new marriage with talk-show host Reham Khan. The former Pakistan captain tied the knot with Reham in January this year after the same British newspaper reported that the two had already married secretly, a claim the couple had denied. The cricketer-turned-politician was previously married to English journalist and activist Jemima Goldsmith for nine years. The marriage ended amicably in 2004 with Goldsmith stating that she was unable to adapt to life in Pakistan.Reham Khan was previously married to psychologist Ijaz Rehman, with whom she had three children.
