ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday terming the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) future of Pakistan said that timely completion of the project is the government’s top priority.
The prime minister expressed these views in a briefing given to him by Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar on the status of the CPEC projects at a meeting on CPEC Project Monitoring Arrangements, here at the PM House. The prime minister said that soon he would perform the ground-breaking of the Western Corridor of the project.
Prime Minister Nawaz said that he would personally review the pace and progress of CPEC through the core team. He said that the concerned officials, who would not deliver in terms of timely completion of the project, would not remain part of the team.
The prime minister directed the authorities concerned to update project benchmarks on monthly as well as quarterly basis which he would monitor on weekly basis. He said that the CPEC would generate employment opportunities across the country and would enhance trade.
