LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has taken notice of party’s defeat in local government elections in 12 districts of Punjab including Lahore and sought explanation from the party members concerned.
The PTI chief has summoned Chaudhary Sarwar and other PTI leaders concerned to Bani Gala along with election record.
Khan is visibly upset with party’s drubbing in Lahore where it could only bag 12 seats as unveiled in the unofficial results so far.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secured 220 seats from Lahore alone.
Remaining two phases of local government polls in 24 districts of Punjab will take place in next 50 days.
PTI organizer Shafqat Mehmood resigned from his designation. He accepted party defeat in Local Government polls and said after such humiliating defeat it is his moral duty to resign from his designation as organizer.
Provincial Organizer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muhammad Sarwar nominated Member of National Assembly, Shafqat Mahmood as Organizer Lahore and Mehar Wajid as Deputy Organizer Lahore.
The Former Governor dispatched a notice to both leaders to start an interactive campaign with PTI workers with the aim to strengthen the party.
