ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday said there would be no compromise on on-going Rangers operation in Karachi.
Responding to questions pertaining to an agreement reached between the government and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the minister said no preconditions were accepted to hammer out the deal to bring the lawmakers of the party back to the parliament.
He said a notification regarding the acceptance of resignations of MQM lawmakers was about to be issued when he jumped in to correct the situation.
“No precondition from MQM was accepted and there would be no compromise on Rangers operation in Karachi,” he said.
The finance minister said the government plans to impose new taxes of Rs40 billion on rich from the next month.
For the first time since the he assumed charge as the finance minister Dar conceded in the TV show that the government was receiving 44 percent tax on diesel.
