ISLAMABAD: Chief of Foreign Affairs Office – Chinese Ministry of National Defence – Rear Admiral Guan Youfei said that supply of submarines, frigates and tanks to Pakistan under Sino-Pak military equipment cooperation was not against any regional country.
While briefing media about meetings of visiting Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, General Fan Changlong with the Pakistani civil and military leadership here, he said that China would continue its military support to help Pakistan in its efforts to counter terrorism and to maintain enduring peace in the region.
“No regional country should be worried about this cooperation,” he added. He said the two countries under a long-term cooperation were jointly manufacturing JF-17 thunder aircraft, frigates for navy and tanks for the army that helped enhance Pakistan’s defence capability.
Commenting on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said several regional countries had welcomed this initiative as it was a part of China’s ‘one belt one road’ initiative which was beneficial for the whole region. “The CPEC will not only benefit China and Pakistan but also other countries of the region,” he added.
Regarding security of the CPEC route, he said China valued Pakistan Army’s effort for security of this project. He said the economic corridor was a long-term project and China would practically fulfill requirements of the Pakistan Army for protection of the route.
