Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that the process of accountability for eradication of corruption will continue without interference from any quarter.Addressing a big public meeting near the under-construction tehsil building of Razaar here on Sunday, he said that the people involved in wrong doings would face accountability. The PTI leaders and workers from different parts of the province attended the meeting, which was held in connection with merger of Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) with PTI. The AJIP has an MNA and four MPAs in the provincial assembly. Liaquat Khan Tarakai, the father of Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, was elected senator in March this year on PTI ticket. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar played vital role in merger of AJIP with PTI. Imran Khan said that leaders of rival parties made hue and cry for protection of each other when the PTI government began accountability process in the province. The leaders, who looted the people’s fund, would face the law, he added. The firm statement of PTI leader comes in the wake of voices being raised by some circles in KPK that the process of accountability initiated by the Provincial government of the party is nothing but political victimization. But the hue and cry of these elements seems to be nothing but an attempt to digest the looted money and therefore, Imran Khan has done well by sending a loud and clear message that the process would not stop and the wrong-doers would face the music. Similar process is underway in Sindh and other parts of the country by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and FIA and there too, the affected people are trying to attribute similar motives to the campaign. Corruption in the country has reached monumental proportions and there is universal demand for across-the-board accountability of all those involved, in any way, in inflicting damages to the national exchequer or those who misused their authority, which is, otherwise, a sacred trust. People have become weary of malpractices as transparency, merit and fairplay are nowhere to be found in their true sense and citizens have to grease palms even for their legitimate and routine matters and it is alleged that even justice is sold. Under these circumstances, a surgical operation is required to cure the malaise which is eating into the very fabric of the society but so far the attempts being made by PTI Government, NAB and FIA are nothing but peanuts or an eye-wash. Imran Khan has some good people around him and he also has a government in one Province and therefore, instead of focusing on politics too much, he should pay attention to address this and other challenges facing the country. For this purpose, he must come out with a national agenda and seek support of the masses for that, besides its practical demonstration in KPK.
