Iranian Quran Institute Trains over 4,000 Quran Memorizers

The Mahd-e Quran Institute of Iran has trained more than 4,000 memorizers of the entire Quran in the past few years, the director of the institute said.

Seyed Mahmoud Chavoshi added that tens of thousands of others have also learned parts of the Quran by heart at the institute.

He said they have memorized one to 25 Juzes of the Holy Book by the taking the institute’s courses held in different cities of the country.

He said since its foundation in 1992, the institute has launched more than 140 branches in the country.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the institute’s 14th nationwide Quran memorization examination underway in the northeastern province of Golestan.

Chavoshi said that in addition to memorization, the exam features questions on translation, interpretation and concepts of the Quran.

It will conclude in a ceremony in the city of Gorgan on Friday with the participation of a number of local and national officials, he noted.

According to Chavoshi, those passing the exam will receive certificates of Quran memorization signed by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
