ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah today called for removal of Chaudhry Nisar Ali as Federal Interior Minister over Charsadda tragedy.
At least 21 students and staff members were killed when suspected Taliban gunmen launched a deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda on Wednesday.
“The responsibility of preventing such incidents lies directly on the interior minister,” he told SAMAA TV.
“Chaudhry Nisar is not fit for the post of Interior Minister. He should be given any other portfolio,” he said.
Shah further said that Mian sahab (Prime Minister) will have to take a decision in this regard.
He also demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered into the Charsadda tragedy.
Reacting to the demand, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry regretted that Khursheed Shah made such a demand despite knowing that the interior minister was unwell.
“Khursheed Shah shouldn’t give such statements. It was unfair to demand someone’s removal over his health,” he said.
Chaudhry Nisar, he noted, was performing his duty responsibly and honestly. – SAMAA
