The Pentagon has expressed serious concern over Pakistan being a safe haven for terrorists.
“The sanctuary that some of these groups enjoy in Pakistan has long been an issue of concern for us, it’s long been a topic of discussion with our Pakistani counterparts,” the Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby told reporters at a news conference.
“It (terrorist safe haven) is a common threat, a common challenge that we all have to continue to work on together and to look for ways to improve that cooperation,” Kirby said.
He went on to say that terrorism is a global and widespread challenge and to defeat and overcome it is something that needs cooperation. In correlation to this, ties between the US and the Pakistani government and army are consistently building.
Kirby said that there was no need to pressurize Pakistan to overcome the challenge of terrorism and it was up to the Pakistani government to rise up on their own feet for the betterment of its people.
