SHAFAQNA PAKISTAN (Shia News Agency)
In two days parliament session, the lawmakers of all the political parties advised government to adopt a policy of non-intervention in the Yemen conflict. Meanwhile Iranian foreign minister who is on visit to Pakistan stressed the need of a political solution to Yemen war. Addressing a joint press conference with Aziz, Javaid Zarif said Pakistan and Iran should cooperate to solve the crisis in Yemen. Responding to a question, Zarif said his talks with Turkey, Oman, and now Pakistan revolved around four major lines: “ceasefire, humanitarian assistance, intra-Yemeni dialogue and broad-based government.” Meanwhile Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz hinted on Wednesday at an emerging consensus in parliament against intervention in Yemen. He said “There is a broad consensus in parliament that Pakistan’s involvement in the civil war in Yemen is not advisable.” “We are willing to have necessary cooperation with Pakistan in the settlement of regional issues, particularly the issue of Yemen,” Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said at a ceremony at Pakistan Embassy in Tehran.
The recommendations of Pakistani parliamentarians show that Pakistani politicians have learned a lot from follies of their predecessors. It is positive development that Pakistan political forces have advised a sensible role in the Yemen crisis that would help to reduce the tension rather than escalating it.
