Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar has approved Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance as part of the government’s strategy to deal with the menace of terrorism.
According to Information of Temporary Residence Ordinance, nobody will be allowed to rent a residential house and room in hotel/ guest house without presenting the National Identity Card (NIC) or passport.
Land lords and property owners will also be required to inform the local police station before giving a room or property on rent within 48 hours.
Sources furthers said that owners of hotels and guest houses will have to inform the police station within 3 hours of allotment of the room or living space.
