Today World is observing World Health day while Pakistan’s 70% population does not have access to better medical facilities. The theme of today’s World Health day is Food safety. More than two million people specifically from third world die due to unsafe food. The countries which do not have rapid check on food quality face such problems.Pakistan faces a distressing health scenario. The main reason for this situation is the lack of access to health facilities. We have failed to develop proper healthcare infrastructure to cater to the needs of the population. Government-run hospitals depict a sorry sight. The lack of clean drinking water and poor sanitation cause a large number of diseases. A large number of diseases such as botulism, campylobacteriosis, diarrhoea, hepatitis A and salmonellosis are caused by consuming unsafe food. These issues are more pronounced in rural areas where illiteracy has compounded the problem.
Due to poor check and control, Pakistan’s most population is forced to use unsafe food for example a man was arrested, who killed the dogs and rats and then mashed their meat and put into the samosas and sale it in Shop. Similarly most of the butchers in metropolitans used to sell meat of dead animals like dogs and donkeys. Few days back Police arrested a shopkeeper in Karachi who used to sell dog’s meat. Many of donkey and dog meat seller have been arrested by Police from metropolitans. In another case a donkey meat seller arrested in Toba tek Singh, the shopkeeper give injection to donkey then slaughters its meat and sends it to market for sale. Apart from meat, in Pakistan same is the case with vegetables and fruits. The shopkeepers openly sale rotten fruit and vegetables but there is no check and balance by the Government. Every year government celebrates the day but pays no heed on the quality of eatables.
