Couple of days ago Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that its lawmakers will return to Parliament from Monday, Seven months after the opposition legislators resigned from the National Assembly in protest against alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.
Though this is very positive developing for the country that is in sheer crisis after Dec 16 dhorrible incident but still the detractors are criticizing the party’s U turn and the leading critic was JUI-F’s chief Maulan Fazal ur Rehman, who hardly hit PTI for its decision to return. Infact Fazal ur Rehman is a fish that cannot remain out of Power water. He always preferred his vested interests over the country’s interests. What the PTI seems to be aiming at now is maximum visibility. These are the new parameters of their game and another dharna like situation won’t get them any more points. They have challenged the MQM like no other party has ever had the guts to, another attempt to be maximally visible. The point is to attach the party to high profile issues, from opposing MQM to PM Nawaz Sharif’s bid to get into Yemen.
The return of the PTI would be very much fruitful for the country because PTI is the real opposition and Imran Khan has openly voiced against sending troops to Yemen. In the presence of real opposition the government would be certainly not in a position of solo flight like PM Nawaz is whole heartedly willing to send troops to Yemen but after dissent voice from PTI chief he has been forced to discuss the matter into parliament. The return of PTI in the assemblies would be certainly beneficial for the country while the detractors have certainly their own agenda and PTI should simply ignore them.
