It is very unfortunate that the world Islam has become synonymous to terrorism because extremist Islamic groups that have earned a global fame for their heinous crimes Namely, IS, TTP, Boko Haram, Al-Shabab and Al-Qaeda, all the Muslim groups have brought bad name to Muslims. Their atrocities have drew a sharp criticism and maligning by the world and also by the Muslim countries. While the public’s outrage is instrumental in pressurizing governments to take action against such groups, recent demonstrations are missing the mark; targeting the whole Muslim community for the actions of a few.
Due to these monstrous terrorist organizations Muslims across the world are facing hatred of people belonging to different countries and different religions. In Australia, a series of anti-Islam rallies have been held and a group Reclaim Australia has been pressurizing government to expel Muslims from their country. Another movement PEGIDA has also staged anti-Muslim protests across the Europe. Though there are personal grudges but infact in the veil of religion Western countries are maligning Muslims and these terrorist groups have provided them reason of condemnation. If it is not, these movements are bound to gain popularity. Terrorists, such as the black-clad ISIS fighters have made it very easy for the common man to visualize Islam as the problem, and instead of a calculated critique of religiously inspired militancy, it is easy to get carried away in Islam-bashing. It is responsibility of the OIC and other Islamic organization to declare that these terrorist organizations have nothing to do with Islam. It should be made clear that these Organizations are just to malign Islam and they have nothing to do with the religion of peace.
