The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB announced squads which will travel to Bangladesh for a tour scheduled to begin later this month. Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal will mark his comeback in all three formats of the game and will display his new modified bowling action. The PCB decided not to include batsman Umer Akmal whose performance with the bat and behind the stumps was the subject of criticism during the World Cup. Ahmed Shehzad has also been dropped from ODI and Test squad due to poor performance in the world cup meanwhile Coach Waqar Younas said that Ahmad Shehzad has been dropped due to discipline and attitude problems. Shehzad and Umar akmal have never won us one good match, under pressure against a good team they always fail, better to get rid of them as they don’t have the match winning capability, they just don’t have the temperament.
On the other hand West Indian star batsman Chris Gayle criticized the decision of PCB to exclude Ahmed Shahzad from the ODI squad. In a tweet Gayle Said” Heard u been drop @iamAhmadshahzad …I know you’re not a bad boy to be drop for discipline… Come on Pakistan, don’t waste this talen”. Former Indian cricket Harsha Bhogle also tweeted “The other is the potential loss to Pakistan cricket of Umar Akmal and Ahmad Shahzad two fine but erratic, unfulfilled talents”.
These tweets show that Umer Akmal and Ahmed Shahzad has been considered as the top cricketers among the world players, however keeping in view their performance in the World Cup 2015, the decision of PCB is justifiable. Pakistan has a lot of talent, until there is competition to gain full form and fitness, Pakistan’s batting line would continue to suffer. Now Ahmed Shahzad and Umer Akmal will certainly work hard to make a tremendous return to the team.
