We, a nation of over 200 million, must realize that destiny of this country should not be in the hands of men whose families whose assets are located abroad, men who are hostage to vested interests. Today because of this conflict of interest, a small City Gulf State, where bulk of assets belonging to ruling elite and members of corrupt establishment are based, has leverage over choice of men to hold public offices in our country, our foreign, domestic and fiscal policies, compromising our national security and interests. Any country that allows men, who having pledged an Oath of Loyalty to another state, to serve as ambassadors or hold constitutional posts is bound to be in the mess that we find ourselves in.
As long as Pakistan’s destiny and fate of its people is hostage to greed of few, this country will continue to be entangled in proxy wars, its economy will suffer because of massive flight of capital and blood of its citizens continue to be spilled on streets because a criminal economy yields political and financial dividends for those who sponsor them. The struggle of men like Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Fazalul Haq etc was waged so that we became an independent sovereign state, where constitution reigned supreme and not to replace people like Robert Clive and East India Company, with thought that this country was not secure for their families, or their major assets to be located.
Pakistan was not created to become a state, where robber barons and land mafia tycoons reap a bonanza, occupy private, state and forest land through threats and intimidation, destroy our green belts replacing them with concrete jungles, pay no taxes, raise private militias and transfer all their finances to foreign safe havens.
