The government has decided to pursue treason charges against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders over speeches delivered during the Sangjani rally on September 8.

The legal action will be taken under Section 196 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which addresses treason-related offenses.

These charges are non-bailable, and police can make arrests without a warrant. The Ministry of Law and the federal prosecutor general have both endorsed this decision. Formal approval is being sought from the federal cabinet to proceed with the case.

This move signals a significant escalation in the legal battle between the government and PTI.
