A total of 110 new dengue cases have been reported across several cities in Punjab. The cases have emerged in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and other areas.
According to a health department spokesperson, Rawalpindi accounted for 92 cases, followed by four in Attock, three in Lahore, and two cases each in Jhelum, Jhang, and Sheikhupura.
Last week, 671 cases were reported throughout the province, bringing the total number of cases this year to 1,843.
The spokesperson assured that the health department is fully prepared to combat the dengue outbreak and prevent fatalities.
“The public hospitals are well equipped. The stock of the medicine to treat the infection is abundantly available,” officials claim.
Earlier, the Punjab health department issued an advisory for the citizens to cooperate with health teams who are actively working to control the spread of infection.
The department also emphasised the need for vigilance and proactive measures to eradicate the development of dengue larva.
A free helpline 1033 has also been provided for those seeking treatment.
