Saudi Arabia has officially announced the appointment of new imams at Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid an-Nabawi in Medina, following royal approval. Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, who oversees religious affairs at the Two Holy Mosques, confirmed the appointments through the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The newly appointed imams at Masjid al-Haram include Sheikh Badr Al-Turki and Sheikh Dr. Al-Waleed Al-Shamsan. At Masjid an-Nabawi, the imams appointed are Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Barhaji and Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Qarafi.
These appointments reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the spiritual experience for the millions of worshippers who visit these holy sites each year.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia had also announced royal approval for the by-laws of the “King Salman Non-Profit Foundation.”
According to SPA, this foundation is part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ broader efforts for the welfare and wellbeing of humanity.
In a statement released on his X account, King Salman highlighted the importance of investing in people to enrich their culture and identity, emphasizing that these philanthropic efforts will continue.
The King also reiterated the foundation’s role in addressing challenges faced by societies and promoting prosperity and development.
