Sheikh Rashid: Imran Khan Remains Unfazed and Optimistic After Verdict

Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has stated that ongoing negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are likely to fail unless a judicial commission is established.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Sheikh Rashid recounted his meeting with PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the jail courtroom. Describing the interaction as cordial, he shared that he embraced Imran Khan, who returned the gesture warmly.

Rashid quoted Imran Khan as expressing confidence in divine support, saying, “You understand all the rules of politics, and Allah is great and will help us.” He further assured Imran Khan of potential relief from the High Court, expressing optimism about a favorable outcome.

The former minister noted that Imran Khan remained unfazed and optimistic about the verdict, showing no signs of concern or discouragement.

When asked about the ongoing negotiations between the government and PTI, Sheikh Rashid emphasised that without the establishment of a judicial commission, the talks would fail. He added that he had no knowledge of the meeting between Barrister Gohar and the Army Chief.
