The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released its weekly inflation report, indicating a 0.24 percent increase on a week-on-week basis.
The data shows a year-on-year inflation decline of 0.80%. Last week, the prices of 9 essential items went up, while 17 items experienced price reductions.
Notable price hikes included broiler chicken, which increased by Rs. 40.15 per kilogram, and eggs, which saw a rise of Rs. 18.27 per dozen.
Other items like sugar, which became Rs. 3.26 more expensive per kilogram, and beef, which increased by Rs. 16.28 per kilogram, also contributed to the price surge. Additional items that saw price hikes included mash dal, mutton, and jaggery.
On the other hand, the prices of tomatoes dropped by Rs 4.61 per kilogram, garlic by Rs 20.33, potatoes by Rs 2.19, and onions by Rs 1.01 per kilogram during the same period.
Prices of 25 essential items, including rice, fresh milk, and yogurt, remained stable throughout the week.
