Kaaba’s Kiswa Partially Raised Ahead of Hajj 2025+ Photos

In preparation for Hajj 2025, officials at the Grand Mosque in Mecca have elevated the lower section of the Kaaba’s cloth covering, known as the Kiswah.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s (PBUH) Mosque stated that this is a routine part of preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season.

The procedure entails folding and securing the lower part of the Kiswah, raising it to a height of three meters, and concealing the exposed section with a white cotton cloth approximately two meters wide.

This annual tradition is carried out to prevent the Kiswah from being touched or damaged during the pilgrimage, especially as large numbers of worshippers perform Tawaf (the ritual of circling the Kaaba). The raised position helps preserve the integrity of the fabric amid the dense crowds.

Specialized teams manage the operation with adherence to safety standards and respect for the sanctity of the holy site.

The Kaaba, located at the center of the Grand Mosque, is Islam’s most sacred site and the focal point of the Hajj pilgrimage, which draws millions of Muslims from around the world each year.
