Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has set another record by scoring his 40th T20I half-century — the most by any player in the format.

Just a day earlier, Babar made history by becoming the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals after leading Pakistan to a nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the second T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

He reached the milestone in classic Babar style — composed, confident, and in control — during a chase that Pakistan dominated from the very beginning.

With this achievement, Babar has now surpassed India’s Rohit Sharma, who previously held the top spot with 4,231 T20I runs.

Babar’s achievement places him at the summit of T20I batting – ahead of modern greats such as Virat Kohli (4,188 runs).

His consistency across 124 innings, coupled with a strike rate of 128.95, has made him a cornerstone of Pakistan’s success in the format.

Earlier, Pakistan secured a 2–1 series win against South Africa after defeating the visitors by four wickets in the third and final T20 International at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday night.

Babar Azam led from the front with a brilliant 68 off 47 balls, hitting nine boundaries and a six. Salman Ali Agha played a vital supporting knock of 33 off 26 deliveries, as the two shared a crucial partnership that anchored Pakistan’s innings after early setbacks.

With this win, Pakistan claimed the three-match T20 series 2–1, having earlier levelled it in Lahore with a commanding nine-wicket victory in the second T20I following South Africa’s 55-run win in the Rawalpindi opener.
