Pakistan clinched a thrilling victory over Sri Lanka on Saturday to win the T20 Tri-Nation Series trophy, successfully chasing 118 runs in just 18.4 overs at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Captain Salman Ali Agha’s choice to field first proved decisive, as Pakistan’s bowlers kept the opposition to a modest total.
Sri Lanka managed 118-4 in 18.4 overs, with Kusal Mendis top-scoring with 36 off 33 balls. Dasun Shanaka added 14 runs, while Hasaranga and Malinga contributed 33 and 23 runs, respectively.
The match swung in Pakistan’s favour as wickets fell steadily at the start of the Sri Lankan innings. Early strikes by Shaheen Afridi removed Nissanka and Shanaka, putting pressure on the visitors. Nawaz’s controlled spin in the middle overs kept the scoring in check, while Mirza and Abrar finished off the tail efficiently.
Babar Azam starred with an unbeaten 37 from 34 deliveries, supported by Farhan at the top of the order.
