Netanyahu is once again on the helm of affairs. Certainly it is something which does not bode well for the peaceful future of Palestine. Netanyahu always blocked moves of UN and EU for two state solutions. EU that does not enjoy good ties with Israel and warned Israel that ties with country depends upon the development in peace Process. In response Israel also threatened EU companies to impose sanctions. While UN couple of months ago confirmed Palestine as a member of international criminal court from April 1. ICC is also investigating Israel’s war crime against Palestine in Gaza strip. In a brutal offensive Israel killed more 2100 Palestinians in a short span of one month. UN has also pressurized Israel for a two state nation but blocked by US. However, reacting to Netanyahu’s recent hardline statements, Washington has said that it may review its position on this issue. Amid this barrage of domestic and international crises, much now depends on how Netanyahu balances pre-election bluster with post-poll reality. Only time will tell if his government compromises to set right the wrong or complicates the wrongs by going further right. If Netanyahu continues its beleaguered policies it may result in alienation of Israel because now US cannot straightly protect Israel following its declining position in the World.
