After the tragic incident of Peshawar Massacre, Pakistan seems hell-bent to eradicate most barbaric terrorist group TTP. Overnight attacks on Tirah valley that killed 57 terrorists show that Pakistan army has thrown down the gauntlets and committed to erase this menace. But question is whether a charge and emotional response to this heinous act would be successful to seriously dent militants. In such a guerrilla war without a conceived strategy, no army could eradicate militants and rebel sections. Taking example of Sri-Lanka that took two decades to get rid of this menace but this happened with a proper conceived strategy. Blind airstrikes and blitz would never be helpful to get rid of these devils.
Pakistan army needs to launch a proper ground assault which definitely seems tough and impossible in such an inclement weather thus waiting for a proper time and after a change in season Pakistan army should launch a ground assault cordoning of the entire area and the most important thing is to first trace and cut the support of these terrorist groups from settled areas. All violent outfits like SSP, LeJ, LeT and all other terrorist groups, should be completely banned. There is need to cut the strategic support of TTP from these groups. Link between TTP and all these groups should be destroyed.
The border activities at Pak-Afghan border should be properly monitored and Pakistan should ink down a clear agreement with Afghan Government regarding use of soils against each other and exchange of terrorist element with each other but for this both the countries should have to devise a joint intelligence sharing mechanism and an indiscriminate action against each other’s required elements.
For a befitting response to TTP, there is a need of long term conceived policy rather than a blind and charged response. Definitely it will take time but in order to get rid of these terrorists for once and all, chalk out a conceived strategy not mere a charged response.
