Saif acts on Imran’s orders to ease PTI-establishment talks

PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has stated that, following former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s last instructions, he has been facilitating contacts between the PTI and the establishment.

Speaking to The News, he added that he hopes for the release of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi from jail and is willing to play any role necessary to help achieve that goal.

Barrister Saif noted that his ties with the establishment span decades. “I am simply using these connections to assist my leader and the party,” he said.

Saif last met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail on November 4 last year. While the PTI remains divided between hawks and doves, Barrister Saif continues to advocate reconciliation and opposes confrontation.

Last month, he posted on his social media account: “The bitterness between the PTI and the defence institutions is, under no circumstances, in the interest of the country or the nation. Both sides should show restraint and a sense of responsibility, work to reduce tensions, and seek a sustainable solution to issues through dialogue. Continuous verbal attacks against each other not only increase tensions but also further complicate the situation.

“In the broader national interest, it is essential to extinguish the flames of hatred and adopt a path of reconciliation and cooperation. At a time when the country is facing serious economic and political challenges, unity, consensus and solidarity are urgently needed.

“Mutual confrontation and street-level brawling only strengthen hostile forces and harm Pakistan. PTI social media workers and officials of state institutions should refrain from character assassination of one another. Avoiding provocative, hateful and baseless statements is the need of the hour.

“I have always sought to resolve issues through reconciliation and negotiations between both the sides. The only and best solution to all disputes between the PTI and the establishment lies in meaningful dialogue, patience and political wisdom.

“An increase in mutual hostility is directly harming the country and its people, and wise decisions are required to put an end to it.”
