Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called for a broader and more strategic role for the Planning Commission to strengthen Pakistan’s economy.
He suggested that the commission operate under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, highlighting the need for improved accountability, enhanced performance, and better coordination within the government.
Chairing a meeting on economic reforms, Ishaq Dar reviewed the Planning Commission’s role in economic and development policymaking. He emphasized that the commission should be empowered to set strategic policy priorities and act as a central hub for major economic decisions, ensuring they align with the national economic strategy.
Highlighting the importance of sustainable reforms, he added that support for strengthening economic governance and management must continue.
The meeting reviewed ongoing initiatives and discussed clear steps to improve coordination between government agencies and ensure that policy decisions are implemented efficiently.
