Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, emphasized at an emergency UN Security Council meeting on Iran that the use of force is contrary to the principles of the United Nations Charter.
Addressing the session, he expressed deep concern over the situation in Iran and the wider region, stressing that a stable and peaceful Iran aligns with Pakistan’s interests.
The Pakistani envoy added that Pakistan is closely observing developments in Iran and the region, highlighting the country’s long-standing bilateral ties with Iran.
He expressed hope that conditions in Iran would return to normal and said Pakistan would continue its diplomatic efforts to resolve the issues, emphasizing that the path of diplomacy and dialogue should be adopted.
Asim Iftikhar further said that Pakistan supports diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in Iran and urged all parties to exercise restraint and patience while respecting international law.
