Hockey team players to receive $115 per day, PSB confirms

Shafaqna Pakistan: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has announced a daily allowance of $115 for each member of the national hockey team.

The finance department has been directed to release the payments before the team departs, ensuring that players do not encounter any financial difficulties during the international tour.

PSB Director General Muhammad Yasir Pirzada told the media that the allowance has been approved under the government-sanctioned budget and will cover Pakistan’s participation in the FIH Pro League.

He added that, despite budgetary constraints, the PSB managed to reallocate funds from other heads to facilitate the payments, aiming to provide better support and facilities for the players during the tour.

Welcoming the decision, national hockey team captain Imad Butt thanked the PSB Director General for personally addressing players’ concerns. He said earlier discussions on various issues had yielded positive results and termed the newly approved rate under the current budget as reasonable. He added that the most important issue of the daily allowance had now been resolved.

It is pertinent to note that Pakistan will face Australia on February 10, Germany on February 11, Australia again on February 13, and Germany on February 14 in the second phase of the FIH Pro League.
