Shafaqna Pakistan: US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that India will purchase oil from Venezuela instead of Iran.
“We’ve already made that deal, the concept of the deal,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling from Washington, D.C., to Florida.
His remarks came a day after the United States informed New Delhi that it could soon resume Venezuelan oil imports to help replace Russian crude, according to sources cited by Reuters.
The US initiative aims to reduce revenue from oil sales that is supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Last March, Trump had imposed 25% tariffs on countries, including India, that were buying Venezuelan oil.
He also stated that China is welcome to strike a deal with the US to purchase Venezuelan oil.
